Overview

The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) has retained the services of McIntosh Perry Consulting Engineers Ltd. – LEA Consulting Ltd. Joint Venture (MP-LEA Joint Venture) to complete all Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) activities under a Group ‘B’ undertaking as required for the Environmental Clearance for the replacement of the Highway 401 Choate Road Overpass (Site 21-230).

The Highway 401 Overpass at Choate Road is located in the Municipality of Port Hope, Northumberland County and was constructed in 1959. The structure has been rehabilitated twice once in 1988 and again in 2003. It is a 3-span continuous reinforced concrete T-Beam structure carrying 3 lanes of traffic in each direction on Highway 401.  The existing bridge has reached the end of its service life and will be replaced with a new structure.
